The prototype version of Yoshi’s Island contained a segment that took away control from the player for an absurdly long time seemingly purely for comedic effect.

After shooting an Arrow Cloud with an egg, the egg is shown to bounce between a large number of Arrow Clouds in a convoluted manner for 16 seconds, accomplishing nothing except collecting a few coins, and falling into a pit at the end.

While the finished game does include segments where an egg is made to bounce between Arrow Clouds, these are several times shorter and are utilized for more useful purposes like getting one of the level’s collectibles.
